Items such as snack bag wrappers, coffee cups, or used cabin air filters from service areas have been diverted from landfills and given a second life by TerraCycle when it is converted into durable furniture and other usable items.
Subaru believes we all should have a chance to lead a healthy life. That's why Subaru and its retailers, like us, partner with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) and their local hospital or cancer treatment center to give warm blankets and encouraging messages of hope, written by retailers and Subaru customers in their stores, to support patients facing cancer. Through our partnership with LLS, we've supported nearly 300,000 cancer patients nationwide. We're proud to be LLS's largest automotive donor.
Subaru and its retailers, like us, are continuing our support of education and high-needs schools in our communities through Subaru Loves Learning(R) by providing teachers across the country with funding to purchase the school supplies and resources they know are needed to help students thrive in the classroom. Through our partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Subaru and its retailers will have supported more than 470,000 students nationwide and are proud to be their largest corporate supporter.
Subaru believes all pets deserve a loving home. That's why Subaru and its retailers, like us, host adoption events and donate $100 to our partner shelter for every pet adopted during the month of October*. Through our partnership with local and national organizations, we have donated over $51 million, which has supported the adoption, rescue, transport, and health of over 420,000 animals. We're proud to be the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA.
*Subaru retailers will donate $100 for every pet adopted from partner shelters from October 1, 2023 through October 31, 2023 up to $3,100 per retailer.

Now, after 15 years, Subaru and our retailers have donated over $256 million to charity all to give back and to make the world a better place.
Our Love Promise can be seen in various partnerships with local charities and non-profits. Were grateful for the opportunity, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve it as well.
Subaru and Elk Grove Subaru believe in making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. We uphold that belief through our Love Promise Community Commitment. Every month, we select inspiring stories from customers and partners from around our area who strive to support our collective commitment and feature them here.

Thank you to Knight Elk Grove Subaru and the Elk Grove Subaru KISS Crew for partnering with the Elk Grove Food Bank this holiday season. With their help the Elk Grove Food Bank was able to put food on the table for many families in Elk Grove and the surrounding areas. KISS 107.9’s Strawberry and Lizette were able to Spread the Love to many people during the food distribution event that took place the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving. Elk Grove Subaru made a sizable donation of food and turkeys and staff helped to deliver the food through the “drive in” distribution event. Elk Grove Food Bank Services Community Outreach Manager Valerie Erwin shared a story of one man who came to the food bank in tears. He said that he had four children at home and no food to feed them. Others told the Elk Grove Subaru KISS Crew that if it wasn’t for the Elk Grove Food Bank they would not have food in their house. Thank you to Knight Elk Grove Subaru for making a difference for so many people during the Thanksgiving holiday. The Elk Grove Food Bank has been around for over 50 years helping to feed the elderly, the disabled, students in college and anyone in need.
Thanks to Elk Grove Subaru, 67 animals found their forever homes at the Sacramento SPCA's FURiday the 13th adoption event. Held on October 13, 2023, dozens of kittens, adult cats, rabbits, adult dogs and five adorable puppies were matched with their new families. During this 'hair-raising' initiative to find new loving homes for shelter pets, adoption fees were only $13 for all animals adopted during the one-day event. The pet's spay/neuter, vaccinations, flea prevention, microchip, and veterinary exam was also covered thanks in part to Elk Grove Subaru and Subaru Loves Pets. Adoption success stories include 10 month old Australian Shepherd Odie. The pup was surrendered to our care after being abandoned by his previous family. After a couple weeks receiving the medical care and attention he so needed, Odie found his new family at the adoption event! Thank you Elk Grove Subaru!
The Knight Elk Grove Subaru street team stopped by the Make A Wish Foundation's Sacramento branch to say thank you for the difference they make every day. KISS 107.9 afternoon drive personality and Knight Elk Grove Subaru representative Lizette Love asked how many wishes they grant each year and the representative responded that they grant hundreds of wishes each year but for every wish they grant there are three more wishes waiting. Because of this, Lizette confirmed that KISS 107.9 and Knight Elk Grove Subaru committed a $3000 ad campaign to them to help them raise funds during the November 2023 "Giving Tuesday" campaign! This year the Sacramento chapter celebrated granting their ten thousandth wish!!! Imagine that. Positively impacting ten thousand kids that are struggling with illnesses. Thank you to Knight Elk Grove Subaru and the KISS Crew for taking the time to recognize this amazing organization doing such good for kids in our community.
Elk Grove Subaru teamed up with KISS 107.9 to say thank you to the folks at The Department of Veteran Affairs for all that they do for our Veterans and their families. The Department of Veterans Affairs offers confidential help for Veterans, service members, and their families including counseling for needs such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and more. The Elk Grove Subaru KISS Crew made a surprise visit to The Department of Veteran Affairs to thank them for all that they do for our Veterans. They showered them with cookies, KISS t-shirts and tickets to event. Thank you to Elk Grove Subaru for their dedication to recognizing people in the community doing good.
Thanks to Knight Elk Grove Subaru, Friday the 13th ended up being a very lucky day for pets at Sacramento SPCA. Elk Grove Subaru and KISS 107.9 helped promote a hair-raising adoption event that took place on Friday October 13th. Strawberry and Lizette from KISS 107.9 provided on air promotion and came out to the SSPCA to show their support for the many pets needing to find their Furever homes. And thanks to Knight Elk Grove Subaru, all adoptions included spay/neuter, vax, microchip and were only $13 which was lucky for the families in search for their new fur babies. With the help of Elk Grove Subaru and KISS 107.9, a total of 67 pets were adopted in one day making this a truly successful event. None of this would have been possible without the support of Knight Elk Grove Subaru.
Thanks to Knight Elk Grove Subaru for their sponsorship of the iHeartMedia / Knight Elk Grove Subaru Pet of the Week campaign, a pair of senior dogs (known at the SPCA and on air on iHeartRadio as the “Golden Girls”) who were awaiting adoption for at least 3 months at the Sacramento SPCA have now finally found their "furever" homes! Rylee, age 11, was adopted by a house full of roommates who were looking for a senior dog. They had their eye on a different dog that had just been adopted, so they came specifically to meet all of the “Golden Girls” at the shelter. After spending a little time with each of them they chose Rylee. Rylee is sure to be spoiled by all of her new housemates! Then there was Sunny, an 8-year-old Pit Bull. Sunny was adopted by a lovely family looking for a good “family” dog that could potentially live with other animals. The SSPCA had a good history of Sunny interacting with small and large dogs, so they recommended Sunny. The family instantly fell in love. Without the help of Elk Grove Subaru spreading the love and helping to find furever homes for animals at the Sacramento SPCA both Rylee and Sunny could still be waiting to find a new family.

One teacher was selected from the nominees to receive the "Thank a Teacher" recognition for the month of January and a $200 gift card as a small “thank you” for their dedication. The January winning teacher will also have a chance to win the Teacher of the Year and a $1,000 award at the end of the year. We'd like to thank Lasher Elk Grove Subaru for partnering with Entravision and supporting this amazing program.
Elk Grove Subaru is always finding ways to spread the love to local non-profits in Sacramento and the surrounding communities. During the month of July 2023, Elk Grove Subaru teamed up with KISS 107.9 and worked with The Sacramento Children’s Home to fill backpacks with school supplies for their kid’s start of school. KISS 107.9 and iHeart Media Sacramento encouraged listeners to donate backpacks, pens, pencils, binders, calculators and other schools supplies for Elementary through High Schoolers. On August 4th, air personalities Strawberry and Lizzette from KISS 107.9 made an appearance at the Sacramento Children’s Home, spreading the love to the children and staff by delivering school supplies and treats and shared their visit on social media to help spread the word about the drive and reward the work of the Sacramento Children's Home! In total, the Fill-A-Back Pack drive collected 1,563 and that exceeded the goal of 1,493 and this this would have been possible without the support of Elk Grove Subaru.
The Subaru Love Promise® is Subaru’s vision to show love and respect to all people at every interaction with Subaru. That’s why Knight Elk Grove Subaru joined forces with KISS 107.9 to Spread the Love throughout our community on June 10th & 11th at the Sacramento Pride Festival benefiting the Sacramento LGBT Center. The Sacramento LGBT Community Center’s mission is to create a region where LGBTQ+ people can thrive. More than 22,000 people attended the two-day event that was held at capital mall in Sacramento. Attendees were able to enjoy entertainment by the Sacramento Gay Men’s chorus, Rebecca Black the Sac Dance Lab and more. None of this would be possible without support from local sponsors...like Knight Elk Grove Subaru.

Elk Grove Subaru’s Pet of the Week sponsorship with iHeart Media Sacramento helps support the welfare of local animals in need of adoption and helps tell the story of animals in need of homes...including some "underdogs" like Willy Wonka. Thanks to the help of Elk Grove Subaru and their on-going Pet of the Week sponsorship, another animal has found a forever home. Willy Wonka has been up for adoption at the Sacramento SPCA for the past year with no luck. Unfortunately, his story is not entirely unique. Willy Wonka, a two-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier arrived at the shelter after a dog attack. Unfortunately, both of his ears needed amputation. One of the veterinary technicians involved in his care took the time to knit him a new pair of ears so he wouldn’t feel so out of place! So many pets come to the shelter needing a loving family to adopt them but Willy had been waiting for more than a year to make that special connection with a loving family. Through the help of the SSPCA and iHeart Media’s Pet of the Week feature sponsored by Elk Grove Subaru, a family reached out to the shelter after seeing him on the website and wanted to pay him a visit. Their main concern was finding a dog that would do well with all of their kids. They went to the shelter twice to meet Willy to make sure he was a good match and he was! Willy Wonka found his forever family. Thanks to Elk Grove Subaru and their continued sponsorship of the Pet of the Week feature across iHeart Sacramentos cluster of stations animals like Willy are now able to thrive.
Elk Grove Subaru is dedicated to making the world a better place by supporting local non-profits throughout Sacramento and the surrounding areas. On Saturday, May 6th, Elk Grove Subaru and the 107.9 KISS crew invited people to the CA Honey Festival in Woodland to learn all about bees and their importance to our environment. People were encouraged to come out to learn all about bees, how critical they are to our environment, and their importance to food diversity. People enjoyed live entertainment, honey themed food, cooking demonstrations, arts and crafts and honey galore thanks to support from Elk Grove Subaru and KISS 107.9. Since the beginning, the partnership between the City of Woodland, the California Honey Festival and the Honey and Pollination Center at UC Davis have worked together to develop an educational and fun format for learning about honey, bees and pollination. The California Honey Festival strives to create an event experience that inspires people of all ages to protect and celebrate bees, other pollinators, and our environment. All of this would not be possible without the help of Elk Grove Subaru and KISS 107.9!
Elk Grove Subaru always finds ways to show their love for local non-profits in Sacramento and the surrounding communities. On April 22nd, Elk Grove Subaru and the 107.9 KISS Crew spread the love by supporting the Sacramento SPCA at the 30th annual Doggie Dash at William Land Park where they helped to find forever homes for shelter animals. More than 1600 dogs and their people walked to raise over $200,000 for the SPCA. The SPCA provides direct care to more than 35,000 animals in our community each year. Funds raised at this event help to provide medical care to sick or injured animals, low-cost vaccinations and spay/neuter services for the community, behavior training, and humane education. This event could not be successful without the support of companies like Elk Grove Subaru and KISS 107.9.
Elk Grove Subaru and iHeartMedia helped spread the love and promoted the American River Parkway cleanup that happened up and down the American River (9 locations) in Sacramento on Saturday, April 15th. The Subaru Loves The Earth campaign helped motivate people and groups all over Sacramento to help protect our natural resources including the American River! One of the groups that heard the call was the Sacramento Wheelmen who organize bicycling activities along the American River Bike Trail! They got involved because paying it forward by helping the Spring Cleanup and taking care of the bike trail shows that they care about the regional treasure of the parkway. "The Cleanup Event helps keep the community aware of the challenges that the Parkway is encountering," says Sac Wheelmen spokesperson Deborah Finley. "The River and Bike Trail are integral parts of life for the Sacramento Wheelman where we can be active, socialize, and appreciate the plants and animals that are endemic to our area. By inviting the community to participate in the effort, Elk Grove Subaru is showing the greater Sacramento area that we are all responsible for maintaining this local treasure". As a result of the event, over 780 volunteers participated and removed over 10 tons of trash from the American River Parkway!
Elk Grove Subaru spread the love in February 2023 and recognized the Sacramento Native American Health Center, who are committed to enhancing the quality of life by providing a culturally competent, holistic, and patient centered continuum of care. We all know over the past several years, healthcare workers have gone above and beyond, risking their health to take care of others. Elk Grove Subaru recognize the staff at the Sacramento Native American Health Center who continue to dedicate themselves to helping the community stay healthy and safe. Elk Grove Subaru and partner KISS 107.9 shared some love with the caring people at Sacramento Native American Health Center by stopping by with cookies, coffee and concert tickets to let them know that we appreciate the difference they are making in our community and say that "We see you working hard and doing your best!" KISS and Elk Grove Subaru want to say "Thank you"!
Elk Grove Subaru, in partnership with Entravision Sacramento, sponsored a Subaru Loves Learning® campaign titled “Thank a Teacher-Gracias Maestro.” In an exclusive outreach campaign aimed at fostering community goodwill, Elk Grove Subaru and Entravision utilized radio, streaming audio along with social media, to encourage students and their parents to nominate an outstanding dedicated teacher in the Sacramento area who has greatly influenced their learning and growth. One teacher is selected each month from the nominees and is featured on social media as the Teacher of the Month. In December, Elk Grove Subaru honored Richard Carrazana from Las Palmas School in the Twin Rivers School District as the “Teacher of the Month.” Richard received a $200 gift card as a small “thank you” for their commitment to their students and the community. At the end of the year, Richard and each month’s winning teacher will have a chance to win the “Teacher of the Year” honor and either $1000 cash or a $2000 credit towards a new vehicle! We’d like to thank Elk Grove Subaru for partnering with Entravision to support this amazing “Thank a Teacher” campaign.
Elk Grove Subaru is a proud supporter and member of the Sacramento Rainbow Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit dedicated to supporting and empowering LGBTQ+ businesses and the Greater Sacramento community. One particular area of interest for both the Rainbow Chamber and Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru is sustainable agriculture and eating practices which is why this year they were proud to help support and launch the Rainbow Chamber’s culinary scholarship program. Capped off with a beautiful dining experience at American River College where students and recipients of the scholarship prepared locally sourced ingredients to create a stunning menu and show off their skills while learning how to cater from the ground up. Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru continues to be a proud supporter of the Rainbow Chamber and all their continuing education efforts. To find out more, visit www.rainbowchamber.com
Elk Grove Subaru is a proud supporter of the Sacramento SPCA. A longtime friend, Elk Grove Subaru has sponsored many SSPCA events over the years from their Doggy Dash charity 5K to their annual gala events, they’ve even hosted adoption events right on the showroom floor! Kenn Altine, the SSPCA’s CEO believes “a dog can change the whole world” and it’s no secret that Subaru and Elk Grove Subaru believe in that ethos as well. Through partnership with Elk Grove Subaru, SSPCA is better able to serve the public trust by treating, rehabilitating, and placing found and surrendered animals with their “fur-ever families,” just like how adoptive parents Pam and Jan found Justice through SSPCA’s foster program. Justice came to SSPCA with many serious untreated medical issues leading to blindness and deafness. The team of Vets at the SSPCA were able to identify and treat Justice and start him on the road to recovery, but it was the love and affection of Pam and Jan and their other dog Karma (also an SSPCA adoptee) that helped Justice fetch a new lease on life. Since 1975, Canine Companions has helped thousands of folks in need get matched with trained and certified service animals. Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru is a proud supporter of Canine Companions, with over ten years of partnership, helping directly sponsor the breeding and training of countless service dogs. In fact, Elk Grove Subaru loves Canine Companions so much they feature a dog-in-training in every one of their commercials! While many service dogs go to those with physical disabilities, helping folks with routine, difficult daily tasks like opening and closing doors, picking up dropped items that may be out of reach or turning lights on and off; Canine Companions also has programs for wounded veterans and those suffering from PTSD as well as programs to train dogs to assist the deaf and hard of hearing. One team that Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru is proud to showcase is Lillian Scarberry and her service dog October. Lillian suffers from brittle bone disease and the simple act of leaning over to pick up a dropped pen could send her to the hospital with broken legs, spine, or worse. Plus, with October by her side she isn’t as reliant on others to get through her day-to-day life and as a new college freshman her independence has never been more important. October knows over 40 commands to help Lillian navigate our modern world and with him by her side, Lillian feels like she can do just about anything. Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru is proud to support Lillian and October, and all the other fantastic service animal teams across the country. You can find out more about Canine Companions at www.canine.org.
Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru is a proud supporter of the American River Parkway. One of Sacramento’s crown jewels, the Parkway has been a free resource for the residents of the Sacramento Area for over 60 years. With over 4,800 acres of park and river access, it is a haven for folks who love to ride bikes, jog, fish and explore the great outdoors. But recently there has been an uptick in the number of unhoused people camping on the parkway. Current estimates have between 2,500 and 3,000 unhoused people living on the Parkway. In 2021, 18% of the Parkway burned due to unhoused campers, among other ecological distress caused to the natural landscape. Which is why Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru has committed to partnering with the American River Parkway foundation through their “Voice of the Parkway” program to help create and implement sustainable programs to move unhoused people off the parkway and onto long-term pathways for success as well to help mitigate and reverse the ecological damage that has been caused. You can find out more at www.ARPF.org
Through our partnership with Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru, we hosted a sponsored adoption event at the Sacramento SPCA on Saturday, October 15, 2022. In preparation for the event, we transferred in 28 cats and dogs from overburdened shelters in our region to the Sacramento SPCA and placed 51 animals into new loving homes during the one-day adoption event. Thanks to Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru, adopting families were also sent home with a Bark Box that contained treats and toys for their new pets to enjoy. One family in particular was really excited about the opportunity to add a new puppy to their pack - so excited that they drove from where they were vacationing in Oregon that morning to the event in Sacramento. After the family lost their senior pit bull to cancer in March of 2022, they had many conversations about whether it was the right time to add another pup to the family. Once they met Ghost, a two-month-old pit bull puppy who was transferred in from an overwhelmed shelter two weeks earlier, they immediately fell in love. Ghost was so comfortable with her new family that she fell asleep in their arms during the adoption process and later enjoyed a relaxing car ride to her new home in Lake Tahoe.
Lasher' Elk Grove Subaru, in partnership with Audacy Sacramento, sponsored the “Love the Earth” campaign which featured an on-air and streaming campaign with audio messages that aired over the air and streaming messages to educate Sacramento listeners on how they can do “1-Thing” to make the earth a better place for all of us. The campaign culminated with a clean-up day, in partnership with volunteers from Audacy Sacramento, benefitting the American River Parkway Foundation. Numerous bags of trash were removed. The American River Parkway is Sacramento’s urban gem. It spans 23 miles and covers 4,800 acres. The parkway has become a Mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. It features areas to fish, swim, kayak, or run, as well as paint, relax, or watch a sunset.
The 29th Annual Doggy Dash raises more than $223,000 for the animals – A record breaking year! The Doggy Dash was BACK in-person and BIGGER than ever before on Saturday, April 23rd in Sacramento at William Land Park! Thanks to record levels of participation this year and the generous support of our team and individual fundraisers, sponsors, donors, vendors, registrants, and festival attendees, the 2022 Doggy Dash raised more than $223,000 to help the Sacramento SPCA provide direct care to the animals in our community. Lasher's Elk Grove Subaru has been a longstanding partner for the Doggy Dash, with this year sponsoring the Bark in the Park Festival water stations and pup pools! The Lasher's Elk Grove Subaru team was out with a Subaru to highlight at the festival and to connect with over 5,000 attendees (and their dogs). It was a fun day had by all and thanks to the local Subaru dealership, it was a remarkable day for the animals.
Entravision Sacramento partnered with Elk Grove Subaru in the month of January to award the Teacher of the month as part of the Thank a Teacher program. Entravision’s Sacramento media properties partnered with Elk Grove Subaru on the Thank a Teacher program in 2021. The goal was to promote the rewards of teaching and their critical community contribution, by highlighting exceptional and inspiring teachers each month who work tirelessly to develop every student to be the best version of themselves. In an exclusive outreach campaign aimed at fostering community goodwill, the Thank a Teacher/"Gracias Maestro" program featured selected teachers nominated by their students' or parents' monthly submissions across Entravision’s integrated media platforms of Radio and Digital. Each month a teacher was selected from the nominees and received a $200 gift card as a small “thank you” for their dedication. They were also recognized on Entravision radio and social media as part of the Thank a Teacher Program. The 12 monthly winners for 2021 were acknowledged at the “Share the Love" Breakfast at Lasher Elk Grove Subaru in January. One of the 12 winners was awarded the Teacher of the Year and received a grand prize of $1000 cash or $2,000 towards a down payment on a vehicle purchase/lease at Lasher Elk Grove Subaru. A Huge Thank you to Elk Grove Subaru for your Love of Learning and the Teachers who inspire! We're grateful for your sponsorship of the Thank a Teacher/Gracias Maestro program and look forward to your continued support in 2022.
When Mr. Pibb came to our shelter, he was heartbroken and wondering when he would get the chance to have a family of his own. It’s not uncommon for animals like him to sit in their kennels for months waiting for someone to give them a chance, due to being older, not having a lot of time left or ongoing medical issues. Thanks to the support from Elk Grove Suburu, our shelter can give these animals the happy endings they’ve been waiting for. We recently started our AdoptUs program, a hospice adoption for shelter pets. The AdoptUs program aims to find compassionate people willing to give a home to these animals in need, with support from the shelter. Mr. Pibb was a perfect candidate for this program – a senior dog with health issues, but with the desire to live and be loved. His adopter Faryn saw his story online and that he was part of this program, and she knew she wanted to give him his forever home. She drove down all the way from Oregon to Sacramento to adopt him and then made the journey home together. Mr. Pibb has gone from a noisy kennel at the shelter to now having a grassy yard to sunbathe in, senior dog siblings to keep him company and even his own bedroom to take as many naps in his comfy bed as he wants. The AdoptUs program has already helped many animals find homes and we can’t wait to see future pets get the same chance. Thank you to Elk Grove Suburu for the support of our shelter and helping us make this happen.
My wife and I wanted to buy our son his first vehicle, so we started doing our homework to find the best vehicle to put our only child on the road in. We wanted to have every safety feature we could find. But a Sherman tank wasn't for sale out there. Word of mouth spreads when looking for something like this at a milestone time in our son's life. My wife teaches kindergarten at a private school in Antioch California. As the word of mouth spread a parent that works for Subaru heard about our desire to find a safe, and reliable vehicle for our sons first vehicle. He provided his card and told us to contact him when we were ready to pursue a vehicle. Elk Grove Subaru, was found to have an incoming vehicle that met all of our needs and desires. It was a 2022 Subaru Impreza Sport. Mike made our purchasing experience the most painless ever. We were made to feel like we were truly MVP's during our purchasing experience. Thank you so much for making this experience something truly special for our son Ethan, as well as my wife and I.
