A Pair Of Golden Girls Gets Adopted Thanks To Elk Grove Subaru!

Thanks to Knight Elk Grove Subaru for their sponsorship of the iHeartMedia / Knight Elk Grove Subaru Pet of the Week campaign, a pair of senior dogs (known at the SPCA and on air on iHeartRadio as the “Golden Girls”) who were awaiting adoption for at least 3 months at the Sacramento SPCA have now finally found their "furever" homes! Rylee, age 11, was adopted by a house full of roommates who were looking for a senior dog. They had their eye on a different dog that had just been adopted, so they came specifically to meet all of the “Golden Girls” at the shelter. After spending a little time with each of them they chose Rylee. Rylee is sure to be spoiled by all of her new housemates! Then there was Sunny, an 8-year-old Pit Bull. Sunny was adopted by a lovely family looking for a good “family” dog that could potentially live with other animals. The SSPCA had a good history of Sunny interacting with small and large dogs, so they recommended Sunny. The family instantly fell in love. Without the help of Elk Grove Subaru spreading the love and helping to find furever homes for animals at the Sacramento SPCA both Rylee and Sunny could still be waiting to find a new family.

Willy Wonka Finally Finds His Forever Home!

Elk Grove Subaru’s Pet of the Week sponsorship with iHeart Media Sacramento helps support the welfare of local animals in need of adoption and helps tell the story of animals in need of homes...including some "underdogs" like Willy Wonka. Thanks to the help of Elk Grove Subaru and their on-going Pet of the Week sponsorship, another animal has found a forever home. Willy Wonka has been up for adoption at the Sacramento SPCA for the past year with no luck. Unfortunately, his story is not entirely unique. Willy Wonka, a two-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier arrived at the shelter after a dog attack. Unfortunately, both of his ears needed amputation. One of the veterinary technicians involved in his care took the time to knit him a new pair of ears so he wouldn’t feel so out of place! So many pets come to the shelter needing a loving family to adopt them but Willy had been waiting for more than a year to make that special connection with a loving family. Through the help of the SSPCA and iHeart Media’s Pet of the Week feature sponsored by Elk Grove Subaru, a family reached out to the shelter after seeing him on the website and wanted to pay him a visit. Their main concern was finding a dog that would do well with all of their kids. They went to the shelter twice to meet Willy to make sure he was a good match and he was! Willy Wonka found his forever family. Thanks to Elk Grove Subaru and their continued sponsorship of the Pet of the Week feature across iHeart Sacramentos cluster of stations animals like Willy are now able to thrive.

"The Cleanup Event helps keep the community aware of the challenges that the Parkway is encountering," says Sac Wheelmen spokesperson Deborah Finley. "The River and Bike Trail are integral parts of life for the Sacramento Wheelman where we can be active, socialize, and appreciate the plants and animals that are endemic to our area. Supporting Diverse Cooks in Every Kitchen

Elk Grove Subaru is a proud supporter and member of the Sacramento Rainbow Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit dedicated to supporting and empowering LGBTQ+ businesses and the Greater Sacramento community. One particular area of interest for both the Rainbow Chamber and Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru is sustainable agriculture and eating practices which is why this year they were proud to help support and launch the Rainbow Chamber’s culinary scholarship program. Capped off with a beautiful dining experience at American River College where students and recipients of the scholarship prepared locally sourced ingredients to create a stunning menu and show off their skills while learning how to cater from the ground up. Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru continues to be a proud supporter of the Rainbow Chamber and all their continuing education efforts. To find out more, visit www.rainbowchamber.com

Helping Furry Friends Find Their "Fur-ever" Home

Elk Grove Subaru is a proud supporter of the Sacramento SPCA. A longtime friend, Elk Grove Subaru has sponsored many SSPCA events over the years from their Doggy Dash charity 5K to their annual gala events, they’ve even hosted adoption events right on the showroom floor! Kenn Altine, the SSPCA’s CEO believes “a dog can change the whole world” and it’s no secret that Subaru and Elk Grove Subaru believe in that ethos as well. Through partnership with Elk Grove Subaru, SSPCA is better able to serve the public trust by treating, rehabilitating, and placing found and surrendered animals with their “fur-ever families,” just like how adoptive parents Pam and Jan found Justice through SSPCA’s foster program. Justice came to SSPCA with many serious untreated medical issues leading to blindness and deafness. The team of Vets at the SSPCA were able to identify and treat Justice and start him on the road to recovery, but it was the love and affection of Pam and Jan and their other dog Karma (also an SSPCA adoptee) that helped Justice fetch a new lease on life. To find out more visit www.sspca.org.

Finding Independence with Canine Companions

Since 1975, Canine Companions has helped thousands of folks in need get matched with trained and certified service animals. Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru is a proud supporter of Canine Companions, with over ten years of partnership, helping directly sponsor the breeding and training of countless service dogs. In fact, Elk Grove Subaru loves Canine Companions so much they feature a dog-in-training in every one of their commercials! While many service dogs go to those with physical disabilities, helping folks with routine, difficult daily tasks like opening and closing doors, picking up dropped items that may be out of reach or turning lights on and off; Canine Companions also has programs for wounded veterans and those suffering from PTSD as well as programs to train dogs to assist the deaf and hard of hearing. One team that Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru is proud to showcase is Lillian Scarberry and her service dog October. Lillian suffers from brittle bone disease and the simple act of leaning over to pick up a dropped pen could send her to the hospital with broken legs, spine, or worse. Plus, with October by her side she isn’t as reliant on others to get through her day-to-day life and as a new college freshman her independence has never been more important. October knows over 40 commands to help Lillian navigate our modern world and with him by her side, Lillian feels like she can do just about anything. Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru is proud to support Lillian and October, and all the other fantastic service animal teams across the country. You can find out more about Canine Companions at www.canine.org.

Friends of the American River Parkway

Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru is a proud supporter of the American River Parkway. One of Sacramento’s crown jewels, the Parkway has been a free resource for the residents of the Sacramento Area for over 60 years. With over 4,800 acres of park and river access, it is a haven for folks who love to ride bikes, jog, fish and explore the great outdoors. But recently there has been an uptick in the number of unhoused people camping on the parkway. Current estimates have between 2,500 and 3,000 unhoused people living on the Parkway. In 2021, 18% of the Parkway burned due to unhoused campers, among other ecological distress caused to the natural landscape. Which is why Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru has committed to partnering with the American River Parkway foundation through their “Voice of the Parkway” program to help create and implement sustainable programs to move unhoused people off the parkway and onto long-term pathways for success as well to help mitigate and reverse the ecological damage that has been caused. Going the Distance for Love

Through our partnership with Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru, we hosted a sponsored adoption event at the Sacramento SPCA on Saturday, October 15, 2022. In preparation for the event, we transferred in 28 cats and dogs from overburdened shelters in our region to the Sacramento SPCA and placed 51 animals into new loving homes during the one-day adoption event. Thanks to Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru, adopting families were also sent home with a Bark Box that contained treats and toys for their new pets to enjoy. One family in particular was really excited about the opportunity to add a new puppy to their pack - so excited that they drove from where they were vacationing in Oregon that morning to the event in Sacramento. After the family lost their senior pit bull to cancer in March of 2022, they had many conversations about whether it was the right time to add another pup to the family. Once they met Ghost, a two-month-old pit bull puppy who was transferred in from an overwhelmed shelter two weeks earlier, they immediately fell in love. Ghost was so comfortable with her new family that she fell asleep in their arms during the adoption process and later enjoyed a relaxing car ride to her new home in Lake Tahoe.

1 Thing - Elk Grove Subau Loves the Earth

Lasher' Elk Grove Subaru, in partnership with Audacy Sacramento, sponsored the “Love the Earth” campaign which featured an on-air and streaming campaign with audio messages that aired over the air and streaming messages to educate Sacramento listeners on how they can do “1-Thing” to make the earth a better place for all of us. The campaign culminated with a clean-up day, in partnership with volunteers from Audacy Sacramento, benefitting the American River Parkway Foundation. Numerous bags of trash were removed. The American River Parkway is Sacramento’s urban gem. It spans 23 miles and covers 4,800 acres. The parkway has become a Mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. It features areas to fish, swim, kayak, or run, as well as paint, relax, or watch a sunset.

Elk Grove Subaru Loves Teachers who inspire

Entravision’s Sacramento media properties partnered with Elk Grove Subaru on the Thank a Teacher program in 2021. The goal was to promote the rewards of teaching and their critical community contribution, by highlighting exceptional and inspiring teachers each month who work tirelessly to develop every student to be the best version of themselves. Senior dog's wish comes true

When Mr. Pibb came to our shelter, he was heartbroken and wondering when he would get the chance to have a family of his own. It’s not uncommon for animals like him to sit in their kennels for months waiting for someone to give them a chance, due to being older, not having a lot of time left or ongoing medical issues. Thanks to the support from Elk Grove Suburu, our shelter can give these animals the happy endings they’ve been waiting for. We recently started our AdoptUs program, a hospice adoption for shelter pets. The AdoptUs program aims to find compassionate people willing to give a home to these animals in need, with support from the shelter. Mr. Pibb was a perfect candidate for this program – a senior dog with health issues, but with the desire to live and be loved. His adopter Faryn saw his story online and that he was part of this program, and she knew she wanted to give him his forever home. She drove down all the way from Oregon to Sacramento to adopt him and then made the journey home together. Mr. Pibb has gone from a noisy kennel at the shelter to now having a grassy yard to sunbathe in, senior dog siblings to keep him company and even his own bedroom to take as many naps in his comfy bed as he wants. The AdoptUs program has already helped many animals find homes and we can’t wait to see future pets get the same chance. Thank you to Elk Grove Suburu for the support of our shelter and helping us make this happen.

First car for our son

My wife and I wanted to buy our son his first vehicle, so we started doing our homework to find the best vehicle to put our only child on the road in. We wanted to have every safety feature we could find. But a Sherman tank wasn't for sale out there. Word of mouth spreads when looking for something like this at a milestone time in our son's life. My wife teaches kindergarten at a private school in Antioch California. As the word of mouth spread a parent that works for Subaru heard about our desire to find a safe, and reliable vehicle for our sons first vehicle. He provided his card and told us to contact him when we were ready to pursue a vehicle. Elk Grove Subaru, was found to have an incoming vehicle that met all of our needs and desires. It was a 2022 Subaru Impreza Sport. Mike made our purchasing experience the most painless ever. We were made to feel like we were truly MVP's during our purchasing experience. Thank you so much for making this experience something truly special for our son Ethan, as well as my wife and I.
